This is the old version of the misal pav recipe which I shared in Dec 2012. This version is less spicer and is kids’ friendly too. Ingredients. 1½ cups matki sprouts or mixed sprouts (or ¾ cup moth beans/matki) 1 cup water to cook matki 1½ tablespoon oil 1 cup finely chopped onions (1 large onion) ½ cup finely chopped tomatoes (1 large tomato)

Misal pav is first dish that I saw everyone using left hand, for holding Pav in left hand(Pav also means foot but here I mean bread Pav). Right hand is used for spoon, either for having Misal or for helping with farsaan(a namkin), coriander leaves or chopped onions. How to make Maharashtrian misal pav in a pressure cooker?

Into a pressure cooker, add the sprouts, potatoes, red chili powder, salt and turmeric powder along with 1/4 cup of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles. After 3 whistles, turn the heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes and turn off the heat. Open the cooker only then the pressure has released completely.
