Pedialyte is an oral electrolyte solution produced by Abbott Laboratories and has been put on the market for children. It was invented by Dr. Gary Cohen of Swampscott, Massachusetts. Pedialyte is designed to promote rehydration and electrolyte replacement in ill children. It "meets the requirements of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Committee on Nutrition to help prevent dehydration in infants and children."

How to use Pedialyte oral solution

Take this product by mouth as directed by your doctor or follow all directions on the product packaging. If you have any questions, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Some brands of liquid form need to be mixed before use and others should not be mixed. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about a specific brand. If the liquid form is a suspension, shake the bottle well before each dose.

If you are using a powdered form, mix the contents of the package with water according to the instructions on the product package. Stir until completely dissolved.

Do not heat this product unless it says on the product package that it can be done.

The dosage depends on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Do not drink fruit juices or eat salt-infused foods while taking this product, unless directed by your doctor.
